This December the Voxter team decided we wanted to do something a little different. We hunted around the city for the perfect fun, indulgent, team building activity we could book to celebrate what had been an amazing year. We decided to book an evening at the Dirty Apron cooking school and chose to do the team building package. The Voxter team and a few significant others arrived to the amazing kitchen and dinning room at the Dirty Apron on Beaty Street and were greeted with Prosecco and light appetizers. Once we had all arrived and consumed just enough prosecco to feel no fear of the kitchen, we broke into teams; departments and spouses were intermixed randomly for some true competition.
We each had a course to prepare, there was team appetizer, team main course, team side dishes and team desert, all competing to make the best tasting and most visually appealing display of the items on their menu. We had chef coaches from the Dirty Apron of course to ensure we didn’t get too far off track.
Once the food was in the oven and we all gathered excitedly to see what would come out the other side we were given the task of developing a creative and entertaining presentation of our creation, the plating, taste and presentation would be graded by the other teams and the winning team declared at the end of the night. Fun! We love a little healthy competition at Voxter. The presentations ranged from a WWF style announcement of first course ingredients along with ring girls and dramatic flare. We saw a singing, dancing routine describing the ingredients and the adventures the desert team went through to create their dishes, we had a human “platter” to deliver our side dishes, carried in vertically for full effect, just to describe a few.
The night was a huge success and wound down with a brief talk by Dayton our CEO to recount the many successes, challenges and advancements Voxter had made over the past year. We capped the evening with little goodie bags for each team member, a few more glasses of wine and the knowledge of how to cook up some amazing new recipes. We want to give big thanks to the Dirty Apron who helped make our 2016 Christmas party one for the books.
